I am so Smrt
Because the internet allows the bar of high thinking to be continually lowered, I have been given a Thinking Blogger Award.
DangerDoll (The Artist Formerly Known as SuperSnark) has entrusted me to pass on links to five bloggers who give me the brain strain. Since most of my blogroll is full up on dumb ass very, very brilliant, it was difficult to find even one cull through the list and not stab myself with a spoon limit myself to just five.
Just kidding, y'all. Listed below are five folks you need to add to your favorites and/or Reader immediately. Do this and ur iq can b az hi az myne suun.
- Chittlin's and Chopsticks - A mother's work is never done. Please go read, now, about the advocacy work done on behalf of Shaquanda Cotton (Oh you haven't heard about the 14 yr old girl sentenced to up to 7 yrs for pushing a hall monitor?).
- Black in Business - Mr. Walton blogs about goals, leadership, effective management and how all of these things can be effected by race in the business world. If you're still operating under the assumption that race doesn't matter, please click on over and broaden your horizons.
- Newshounds - They watch FOX so you don't have to but if you insist on watching Fox anyway, please give them at least a skim because it's always nice to get both sides of the story. And also because: Fair and balanced? My ass hurts.
- Missing My Bug - This is Redneck Mommy's blog about her Bug. If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a child, it's required reading. I think about her Bug and Jackson together wherever the after life takes us and I hope they are eating paste, running with scissors and living it up. RNM gives me hope that one day this hurt will lessen from a constant throb to a dull ache.
- The Thinking Black Man - Read about his First Time (no, it's not a letter to Penthouse) and get it, please, that it won't not be about race until it stops being about race. Even when you're seven. Before you brush this off and believe that to be a reference to something that happened in another lifetime, it occurred in Maryland last month.

Congrats on the award!

You humble me, Bitch.
(I feel so dirty typing that...)
I wish I could tell you the hurt would lessen, but it still has me bent over and gasping for air most days.
I have just learned to hide it better.
Now, I'm off to read the Thinking Black Man and about the hall moniter thing. WTF??

Congratulations--well deserved.

JD and RNM, the awards in your cases are well-deserved.
Regina, the previously addressed jankosity of your site likely explains the lack of a plaque (see! I THINK therefore I RHYME!). Now go post some more pics of Sanjaya the Fetus for Stacey!
But seriously, y'all need to go read those folks. Good people, all.
